Booking an appointment
If you would like to see a counsellor for an initial assessment, you will need to complete a Background Information Form. If you would like to apply for a reduction in our standard fees, please also complete and submit a Application form for a reduction in fees. Your counsellor will discuss this with you at the initial assessment. Please complete the forms on line, or if you are unable to do this please contact us to request the forms by email or post.
What happens next?
Once we have received your forms, you will be offered an initial assessment appointment with a counsellor to get an overview of your situation and to determine whether counselling at The Oaks is appropriate for you. There may be a wait to see a counsellor at busy times. Generally speaking, the more flexible you can be, the sooner we will be able to offer you a place with a counsellor.
The initial assessment
The initial assessment is an exploratory session when you can meet the counsellor and explain and discuss your issues in more detail. At this stage there is no commitment either way to continue with counselling. If you decide you wish to continue with counselling you will be asked to sign a counselling contract with the counsellor. This will be explained and discussed with you at the initial assessment.
Unless you have been referred to us as a registered carer, please bring your fee with you to the initial assessment.
Clients receiving counselling services from The Oaks Counselling Service enter into a Counselling Contract.
